Zariya: A Survivor – centric Justice Technology for Sexual Violence in India
The Zariya method centers a woman as the agent of her own empowerment. Via a safe channel that does not unduly compromise her identity, she reports a crime. In response, she receives information via SMS or email about enforcement agencies and
care providers within her vicinity. She can access these through the platform. Finally, Zariya serves as a central hub which service providers and enforcement agencies enter to view a specific survivor’s curative process. This helps them track the progress but also determine where their interventions will be needed and useful.
Zariya does not replace the existing work; rather, it complements and connects these organisations into an integrated justice delivery supply-chain. In so doing, it will provide an organised connection between women and the organisations and a structured space where justice processes can be ensured and tracked.
